This is my blog.

Words and photos live here.

I’ve been blogging since before the term “blogging” was invented.  (For those of you who do not remember the time, it was probably about 1999.)

Since then, I’ve had writings on Scribble.nu (anyone remember that?), the original Blogger (before Google bought it out), LiveJournal, VOX, and now WordPress.  I like it here.

Life has taken me in all sorts of directions. Previously, I worked in marketing and graphic design, which then lead to freelancing in Washington, DC – as a photojournalist, graphic designer, lab assistant for the World Bank, and general office monkey.

But now – I am a graduate student at the University of Missouri’s School of Journalism in Columbia, MO.  It’s been an adjustment from working-for money to working-for-grades, but overall I’m really happy studying here. Every day, I feel like my brain is on overload from all the information being absorbed. Not only from my professors, but from my colleagues, too. It’s really an amazing program, and so far, I’m knocking its socks off.

Prior to school, I lived in Arlington, VA / Washington, DC for a little over three years. I was very sad to leave my family and friends there, but this adventure beckoned, loudly. While I miss home, Columbia isn’t so bad. But hopefully this journey will find me back in my favorite city, with my favorite people, working for a fantastic place. (I have lofty goals, and I think I can get there. C’mon networking!)

So join me on my adventures in grad school in this blog.  Pester me when I’ve been too busy to update.  And ask for pictures.  Lots and lots of pictures.

With love always,

Erin
